KTX Systems founders bring rich management history, industry experience and technical backgrounds to the company.  Below are their short bios.

 

Mehdi Khalvati, Ph.D.


Mehdi Khalvati, Ph.D., is a co-founder and a general partner at KTX Systems. Dr. Khalvati has more than 20 years of experience in hi-tech companies in the management, creation and delivery of software solutions for the building products manufacturers, industrial and commercial facilities management, and design and construction markets.  He served in management positions and was responsible for delivery of innovative solutions at Combustion Engineering (acquired by ABB -Asia Brown Boveri) and Autodesk before founding several successful companies in the related markets.  His start-up companies includeCADSPEC where he was the CEO and created innovative manufacturers and owner information on the Internet for companies such as Honeywell, Kohler, Corian, Weyerhaeuser Doors, McDonald's, Chevron, Hilton and others. In 1999, Dr. Khalvati co-founded Viscomm and  went on to invent Building Center, an Internet based software suite of applications for the management of commercial and industrial facilities, including their assets, real estate, warehousing, personnel and other aspects.  He implemented Building Center at Bank of America as its fist major client.  Other Building Center customers included Washington Mutual, American Express, Deutsche Bank and several other major companies worldwide. Viscomm was acquired by Bricsnet in 2002 where Mehdi served as Executive Vice President.  He forged alliances between Bricsnet and Emcor Group and CB Richard Ellis and continued with the expansion of the depth and breadth of Building Center.

Dr. Khalvati has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Tehran University, a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering from University of California, Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.  He is also a registered professional engineer.  Dr. Khalvati has participated in and has been a presenter at many industry conferences.

Ardavan M. Tehrani, Ph.D.  

Ardavan M. Tehrani, Ph.D., is a co-founder and a general partner at KTX Systems. Dr. Tehrani has more than 10 years of extensive experience in wireless communications, networking and telecommunication industries. Prior to KTX Systems, he has served as a wireless technology consultant to a number of public and private companies. From 2000-2004, he was a senior system architect with the Advanced Technology Group at Atheros Communications. Atheros Communications grew from a small Stanford startup in 2000 to a market leader in WiFi chipset market and went public in 2004.   Prior to Atheros, from 1995-2000, Dr. Tehrani held a variety of technical positions at Lucent Technologies, Bell Labs, Stanford Center for Telecommunications (joint project with Royal Institute-KTH in Sweden), Stanford STAR Lab and Stanford Information Systems Lab. From 1992 to 1994 he served as a technical manager at GAM communications research center and also co-founded a software firm specializing in networking services. From 1991 to 1992, he served as a researcher at The Center for Advanced Medical Research, where as part of his B.S. project, he designed and developed a data acquisition board for a bionic artificial hand. He has authored several technical papers, lectured internationally on wireless technology and has filed nine US and international patents. Dr. Tehrani has also served as an advisor to a number of top tier Venture Captial firms and Investment banks.

Dr. Tehrani received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tehran University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where he also pursued a masters degree in Management Science and Engineering.
